Fuck that shit

Woke up to some news that jolted me out of my weird ass state. Had one more roaring fight with my father. All these fights are one-sided, where I am the one who is fuming all the time. My father is so remarkably calm all the time!

Anyway, I was twiddling my thumbs and really having a tough time completing a storyboard. The mental fog was intense. But plodded through and we got done.

But the heat and stress really got to me.

But Papa and I went to a pandal. We got lost and landed up at another Santoshi Ma pandal. That was so different from a Durga pandal. But Papa was happy. I was a little upset with watching all the shit that goes on in the name of 'daan'. But...okay.

Then we went to the Durga pandal where we met another uncle. I was asked to make a donation. Trying not to be small minded about this. But okay.

But after our second pandal, Papa and I went to Oberoi. Nowadays we get drivers through DriveU. The last two days the drivers were really nice. Today's guy was not so good. But anyhoo...we went to the Trident, sat in the coffee shop, had coffee (for me) and juice (for him), got some chips, and Papa told me about his travels to Belgium, his long 53 day sea voyage from British Columbia to Chennai, and the likes. After a long time, I told him that I was so grateful to him for exposing me to town, to Bombay at night, to the docks and Dharavi, to the life that we had when our family was small but happy...I don't know. There's something about Nariman Point that always gets my heart to open...in ways that the rest of the city doesn't. It knows how to coax out a stubborn love.

And Lord knows my heart needs all the help it can get.
