Day 41 of 108

It was a day where we had two steps front and three steps back. Feeling so angry and agitated right now. Some people in this building need space in a shuttle to Mars. Stay there.

Anyway, on to sweeter matters. Here are all the things that I am grateful for:

1. Papa is well. Met him and he also came with me to Bandra. That was nice. Also a little tough and hard on him regarding a couple of things and tough on me regarding a couple of things as well. I wish things were easier but I suppose I must be grateful for the tough parts as well. It must be building something in me.

2. Cook had made a really nice besan curry for me.

3. I got some samosas, khandvi, dhokla, and bhakarwadi for Papa. He seemed to enjoy it.

4. I am really really grateful for the money I have now to buy a few of such treats for Papa. They may be small but I love the fact that we can go beyond the absolute essentials once in a while. Sometimes life feels so hard...so...unlubricated that things like this actually mean a lot.

5. I went for a Grisly Girgaum walk through Khaki tours. The idea was to go to a few haunted spots around Girgaum. But we saw so many interesting areas as well. There were a couple of cemeteries, chawls of ghosts, stories of kids who saw entities when they were blindfolded as they played Blind Man's Buff, etc. But we also saw the place where chawls and gullies meshed to form some strange labrynthine networks, the place where the very first Ganpati celebration happened on account of Lokmanya Tilak's initiative, etc. It was such a lovely walk. The group was small...just 3 of us besides our guide. We were roaming around Girgaum at night, past midnight...I took a train to and fro from Charni Road. That really was special! Memories of traveling late in college and early working days.

6. I am sensing some strain about my new assignment. I am listing it down as something to be grateful for because I want to train myself to go beyond labels. So if there is discomfort, I acknowledge that too. That too is the feel of a beating heart.

7. It was really quick for me to get a ticket at Bandra station! And the station itself is looking so pretty!

8. Heard from my brother.

9. Heard of a place called Trilogy, a bookstore in Bandra. I look forward to checking it out.

Some pictures from today:

Old buildings and chawls at Girgaum

Our meeting point was outside Saifi hospital. So gorgeous this place is!

When you reach Charni Road and have to cross the bridge, you see this place that has such artistic degeneration written on it.

When you get off the train at Charni Road

Chawls...almost the last of their kinds in Mumbai

And the journey time...empty coach and Bandra station
