Today I went to town for dinner. Roamed around by myself until I lost my way. Was shepherded to the right spot by a stranger who gt me to right place and went on his way. Then met a pal, ate, drank, shopped on the street, had a dessert and came back. Didn't need to have a car. Didn't need to book a cab. Didn't need to call up anyone for a back-up plan or a last minute pick up. Just sat back in the taxi, watched the city-lights shimmer like ice-cubes, see an unreal world reflected in the sea, and came back home.

A last minute plan with a friend should be that easy - no matter who you are, no matter where you are.

When a city affords you that, it's a big city. I know Mumbai is a really costly city...but man, has it made me feel rich!
