In simpler times, it was simply 'saffron, white, and green with a chakra in between.' In simpler times, this phrase was sung by children.

There’s a big poster in Marol - near the fire-station, I think. It has a picture of a group of saffron-clad people walking purposefully. The slogan on the poster reads something along the lines of: “Ab aa gaye sant, karne jihad ka anth.” The lettering is in saffron, except for jihad, which is in green.

So, that’s saffron and green. Two colours of the Indian flag now associated with fundamentalism.

Maybe, it’s time white denoted atheism.

If two colours denote religious fundamentalism and the height of irrationality, why should the third denote the height of rationality? As a juxtaposition?

You mean something like the Atheists keeping the fundamentalists apart (white in between saffron and green), and making the country progress (the chakra belongs to white). :P

I am on Chapter 7 now (out of total of 10) and have liked it a lot. He has dealt with many issues in the book, ranging from the scientific evidence against existence of God, the theory that religion evolved as a by-product of genetic 'mis-firing', or even the whether we owe our morality to religious upbringing or not.

@Mukta: Yes, your notions are right. Religion was started as propaganda by the clever to control the weak.
Atheism is rational.
Also, I've read god delusion. It is a very obvious book for anyone who has followed the creationist Vs the evolutionist argument. But it is well written and may be read if you aren't already aware of the main arguments put forward by the creationists. I could give a summary of course if you are interested.(of the arguments, not the book)
