Mornings

Today feels like a good morning. I feel possibilities as I sip the tea mum made before she and father headed back to Bombay. They left at dawn. I woke up to say goodbye at the door and it felt a little wistful. The orange glow of my Diwali lantern, not yet removed, shone down on them. They looked like sweet birds who'd come to some hermit's garden and now, decided to go away. To Bombay. The garden was nice. But spring was elsewhere.

I closed the door and opened Midnight's Children - so wonderfully glutted with stories and fables.

I sipped the tea and read the book. Spring comes everywhere.
